Almost every country wants to increase its agricultural production system, but the important question arises as to how they will execute and increase it. Even in countries like the USA, the export of agricultural goods is one of the major sources in maintaining their balance of payments as according to the current data, they exported the agricultural commodities worth 118.3 billion dollars in their last financial year. Looking at the global level, India also took many important steps to strengthen its agricultural system and focused all its attention on making agriculture more and more modern to compete at the global level.

Working in this direction, the Government of India established many new and modern agricultural universities and colleges and GBPUAT (Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology) is one among them which was established by our former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru in the year of 1960 at Udham Singh Nagar, Pantnagar Uttarakhand. It is an initiative taken by the Indian government to focus more and provide agriculture oriented UG, PG and Ph.D. courses to enhance the trend of agriculture in India. They provide UG courses like B. TECH (various streams), Bachelor of fisheries science, BSc (home science, food technology, and horticulture science, veterinary science) and BSc agriculture. GBPUAT also provides many PG courses like M. TECH, MSc (in agriculture, home science, veterinary), Masters in science majors and Masters of fisheries science and last and the most important is the Ph.D. in various specialization (agriculture extension and communication, Management, Biochemistry, Botany, EVS, Agriculture science, Maths, etc). candidates can apply through online mode after checking the eligibility criteria of their specific course.

Like railways, on the parallel track, one more government body works on the similar platform to provide good education in the agriculture field which is MAUEB (Maharashtra Agricultural universities examination board) which conducts the exam of MCAER (Maharashtra Council of Agriculture Education and Research Common Entrance Test) which a way for the students to get the admission into various state universities which offers various UG and PG courses with specialization in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Home Science, Food Technology, Horticulture, and Agricultural Biotechnology.

But now there is a slight change in the exam pattern. Where earlier admission of the eligible candidate in the undergraduate courses like BSc (Hons) in (Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry and community science), B.TECH in (Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Food technology) were possible through MCAER CET but now for the admission in these courses totally depends on the performance of the candidate in competitive exams like JEE/ NEET/ ICAR AIEEA/ CET. The application process for appearing in this exam is completely online in which the candidates must sign up by visiting their official website. After this, the student has to login with his signed-up ID and enter all his details on the website and make his payment through online or offline mode in the last. But the exam will be taken only in offline mode. There is no restriction to apply for this exam that you must be a citizen of Maharashtra, candidates from all over India can apply for this exam.

Apart from these universities many other good agricultural universities exist in India like NDRI Karnal, CCSHAU Hisar, UAS Bangalore and many more who are working together in one direction for the optimum production of the agricultural commodities by innovating and implementing the new techniques in agriculture in India.
