The temperature can be measured with the various techniques and one of the common ways of measuring the temperature is using this Galileo Thermometer. This is the instrument that is having the floating bulbs inside the sealed glass that varies according to the density and the temperature of the liquid. The bulbs are also filled with the same amount of water in all the glass bulbs. It is not the matter but the metal tag that is hanging below each bulb will give the stability in their density. The colors of the water or the alcohol that is present in each bulb will be different as this will give the importance to measure the readings.

What is the working process of the thermometer?

The metal tags that are attached to the small colored bulbs will help the people to measure the readings of the thermometer using the calibration. The liquids that are present in the bulb will give equal density. Thus the total density of the bulbs will be equal to the surrounding water in the bottle. The air that is present outside the thermometer may have a different temperature and so according to the water that is present in the glass will change. The bubbles that are having a unique temperature will start to float or sink according to the density variation.

Mostly the bubble that floats in the water will have the chance to indicate the current temperature. If there are five bubbles present in the Galileo Thermometer then the bulb that is sinking in the middle of the water will represent the current temperature of the room. This will be the best one for the people to measure the exact value easily. The high-density bulb than the water density will start to sink in the tube and the one that is having the less density will float. So the bubble that is having the equal density to the water will float in the middle. This kind of technique is much easy to know the temperature in a fraction of the time.

How to find the exact reading?

Measure the bulbs which are floating the lowest. This means that if you can’t able to find the bulbs that are present in the middle of the glass tube then you have to measure the bulb that is floating at the lowest order. This will give the exact temperature. This is because of the contraction of the liquid will make the bulbs to float or sink in the thermometer. The readings of the temperature will be printed in the metal tags of each bulb.

The main thing you should have to be careful is that you should not keep it in the hand as your temperature in the hand will affect the reading so you have to first hook the thermometer in the room and then only you can able to understand the readings easily. You can also measure the water temperature when you have kept the thermometer in the water. Thus it is simple to know the approximate temperature and most people use this for decoration purposes.
